Father’s Day Cards: Inlaid Die Cut
Hello again! Recently, I bought a new die from Elizabeth craft designs and I couldn’t wait to sit down and try it! I decided to pick out a few shades of neutral card stock and create backgrounds for Father’s Day cards using an inlaid die cut technique. I cut out out the die several times, using Gina K designs luxury card stock in kraft, onyx black, charcoal brown and dark sage, along with Neenah classic crest solar white. I also used a shimmery copper color that I have had in my stash for several years. I used the white and the copper for the frames and filled the frame with the Gina K colors. The first one I made, I glued the frame using Distress Collage medium matte adhesive. That took a bit of time, but allowed me to manipulate the circles into place. The next several I made, used a double sided adhesive (4″ wide”) on the white card stock. I peeled off the backing and set the outline in place, using the adhesive liner to press the outline firmly in place. It was the very quick to, adhere the individual circles in place, but I had to be pretty exact in placement as double sided adhesive does not allow you to play with placement quite as much as liquid adhesive does. (Quick Tip: if you lightly moisten the adhesive, it temporarily allows you to manipulate whatever you are adhering!)
I then used my silhouette Cameo to cut out multiple Happy Father’s Day sentiments in white along with multiple vellum outlines. In hindsight, I wish I would have used black instead of white as I think the sentiment would have popped more. I did use my spectrum noir shimmer pen to add some shimmer and help the sentiment stand out a little more Inside, I used a Power Poppy sentiment from her Nice Things to Say stamp set: words can’t fully express how much you’re appreciated. I had lot of fun using this technique, and am crazy about this background die! I used the leftover frames in another project. Stay tuned!
