White embossing with blended inks
I am always looking for new techniques to try. Mind you most of the things I find have been out there floating around on Pinterest or other sites but eventually they cross my radar. So most of the things I post are new to me if not to anyone else. This was an attempt at semi-matching Birthday cards using white embossing powder. The matching part is simply because my sister and her husband have birthdays just days apart. What better time to try something and if you like the technique then just try it again.
I inked up white card stock with memento inks, using makeup sponges as daubers to create the shading. Once dry I added a distressed look by inking up an embossing folder with grey ink and applying just like you do a rubber stamp. The image is not as clear as a rubber stamp but it provided the look I was going for. I used versamark with my flower stamp, added white embossing powder, and used the heat gun to provide the white contrasting flowers. The card was finished with a simple sentiment on a band of matching paper. I rarely use my funky scissors but it was a quick way to add a little texture to the sentiment without layering paper. I attached to a white card base.
Over all I was happy with the end result. I do like the balance in the flower card better than the tree card.
