Going with the Flow

So today is a snowy cold day in Michigan so I thought I would continue with my theme of trying challenges to dip my toes in unfamiliar territory. Today I focused on The Altenew January 2019 Inspiration challenge.

I grabbed my Altenew Under the Cherry Blossom Tree stamp and die set and decided to play. This is a new set for me and I have been itching to try these stamps. Normally I would make cherry blossoms pink but the challenge colors were orange and Teal and like I said, I really wanted to try out these stamps. I have never seen a tree with orange color blossoms on it but I was channeling somewhere warm and tropical that just might have a tree that does this. Overall I think I channeled a fall Michigan day instead of a tropical island.

Once I had my general layout I played with setting. Originally I was thinking of looking out a window to see the branches but changed my mind. I love snow globes but there is enough snow outside for everyone so I wanted to play with expanding my snow globe die set from Hot off the Press to include a non snow aspect. Not sure if non snow, snow globes will catch on as a name but not sure what other name will work. Would have been perfect if I could find some little tiny orange colored petal confetti in my stash but alas no luck. Instead I settled for orange beads. My globe base and bird are teal to bring in the other challenge color. (Really dark teal that almost looks blue but trust me it was a teal ink pad I used) The globe needed to be grounded so a quick wash with my Arteza real brush pens and the card is finished. As always thanks for stopping by and leave a comment below.
