Polychromatic
Continuing on my AECP Level 2 journey, the next class I tackled was Polychromatic, taught by Nina Marie Trapani. It is all about using color. I chose to utilize two techniques: monochromatic colors and a pop of color on white.
For this card, I used my Geometry stamp set from Altenew. I lined up five triangles on my Misti, then stamped them using Caribbean Sky, Parisian Blue and Sapphire inks, with the deepest blue in the center, and getting lighter to the outside triangles. I trimmed that panel down then added two thin strips of blue mirror card stock from my stash. I die cut the word “happy” (Honey bee Stamps) out of the same blue mirror card stock, along with two in white. I stacked the three and adhered them together, then mounted the sentiment overlapping the triangle panel. I finished it off by stamping “birthday” from the Birthday Builder set by Altenew. While I had the triangles set up, I stamped two more panels, so I will have a few “guy” birthday cards on hand.
My inspiration for this card was the bright blue of our summer sky here in Michigan, and the fact that I need a few masculine birthday cards later this summer. My take away from this class is to continue to not be afraid to use color in all of my projects!
As always, thank you for stopping by and reading our blog, and I hope this inspires you to go out and create something!
