Turn About, Plaid and Layering Stamps Oh My!
Hello and welcome, today I am again pulling from some background and focal images I had in my “to use” box. These were created when I bought some new stamps and just wanted to try them out for the first time. I hate throwing anything in my craft room out so if the trials turn out okay then they go in a file to be used later.
I had bought the concord and 9th flower turn about stamp on clearance a while ago and had used shades of purple and green memento ink to try out the stamp. It was a bit busy for me so I cut it down to make a nifty background. I used Spellbinders Horsehair Embossing Folder to add texture to my purple paper.
Happy Birthday was inked and heat embossed in black. Some green bakers twine and a matching mat layered behind to bring everything together. Inside I stamped two matching clusters of flowers with a purple mat. I really like how the inside turned out.
My second set used two of my favorite stamp sets. Concord and 9th plaid background and Gina K Painted Autumn layering stamps. I love the versatility of the plaid stamp. In my orange card I just did the basic plaid. On my pink card I added pinstripes to the plaid with the included stripes in the set.
I used memento inks in matching colors to stamp the layered flowers. The flowers were masked to allow for layering the leaves behind the flowers. Sometimes I have problems lining my layers up but I think the stamp style is forgiving enough that it looks “artistic”.
A sentimement and some raised dots using Tim Holtz and Scribbles dimensional pearl drops were added. I really need to practice my technique with my drops, some are too tall and pointy, some spread like a bad chocolate chip cookie. They say things improve with practice so I had better go practise. Thanks for stopping by and learning with me.
