YASSSSS! You Grow Girl!
WHY
Recently my niece graduated from nursing school. I am so proud of this young lady! She worked multiple jobs and just continued to persevere until she finished.
CARD BASE
I set out to make a very special card for her. A while back, I had used Catherine Pooler’s Rizzo Mandala set to make several square cards. I love making multiples, as when an occasion is coming up, I can “shop” my completed card fronts and quickly finish them off. I also make extra sentiments so they are on hand. That made it fairly easy to get this card going.
SENTIMENT
Before I finished the outside of the card, I wanted to get my sentiment stamped inside, as I knew I wanted to add gems to the front and mount the main sentiment to add more dimension. Using a light grey ink (SSS Pawsitively Saturated in Flannel), I stamped the mandala offset to the left inside the card, so it would echo the front design. I then selected three sentiments from the “You Grow Girl” stamp set (The Gray Muse): YASSSS, SO PROUD OF YOU and YOU GROW GIRL and stamped them in black ink over the mandala.
FINISHING TOUCHES
I finished the front by adding some gems from Pink Fresh Studios, and a Congrats sentiment I cut out (multiple times so they are ready to go!) on my Silhouette. The Congrats is cut out in white, with a shadow in black glossy cardstock. I used card stock scraps to build up the outer edges of the sentiment so that it would sit levelly on the card front.
LAST DETAILS
As for the mandala, it is inked in Gina K’s Plum Punch, each of the layers of the mandala are on silver mirror cardstock from my stash, and the card front is a plum to peach ombre cardstock from my stash, with an onyx cardstock (Gina K Designs) frame.
As always, thank you for reading, and I hope this inspires you to get crafty and create something today!
