Irresistible Inking….
In my previous post, I stated I love inking. Well, I love inking!! So “Irresistible Inking Techniques” was another class that I really enjoyed. I would encourage anyone who is interested in learning inking techniques to enroll in either or both classes (Easy Ink Blending and Irresistible Inking techniques) at the Altenew Academy. They are well thought out with great tips and suggestions on how to improve your inked backgrounds, as well as new ways to use your inks, which is the focus in today’s blog post.
In today’s card, I used my ink pads as watercolors, as well as to blend a background, and direct to paper inking. For the water colored background, I used an A2 sized piece of watercolor card stock from my stash. Using my Altenew Golden Garden stamp set, I stamped with versa mark ink, and embossed with Altenew Rose Gold Embossing Powder. I then “painted” the images using Altenew crisp dye inks in Coral berry and Frayed Leaf, using a water brush to apply the color. I kept it a little loose in my application of color on purpose.
I then inked a strip of Neenah Classic Crest Solar White card stock completely with the coral berry, including the edges. Taking a slightly larger strip of the same card stock, I inked the edges with versa mark, and embossed it with rose gold to match the stamped image. On a smaller strip of Gina K Designs Onyx Card Stock, I embossed the sentiment “hello my friend” (from Concord and 9th’s Dahlia Turn-about Stamp set) in Rose Gold. I then layered the three strips, with the black on top, the coral berry in the middle, and the rose gold embossed strip on the bottom. I adhered the sentiment to the card front using foam tape to give it some dimension.
I decided to trim the water color card stock slightly, and adhered it to onyx card stock to give it a skinny “frame”, as I felt like it just needed a little more, then mounted the whole thing on a card base. I added a few embellishments from Pretty Pink Posh to add a little more shine to the card, and I was done.
As always, thank you for taking the time to read my blog, and I hope this inspires you to go out and create something!
